Years later Luke Skywalker lived on Tatooine. Shortly after Luke's guardian Owen Lars purchased the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, Luke met Obi-Wan Kenobi and fled Tatooine to join the Rebellion and become a Jedi Knight.
Throughout both the Clone Wars and the Civil War, Tatooine served as the Head-Quarters for Jabba The Hutt's crime syndicate, until the Hutt met his death at the hands of Princess Leia shortly before the Battle of Endor.
